It all started with a drink. A sticky, spilled drink, actually, and a trail of drip, drip, drips. The couch and carpet had to be cleaned. The third cleaner (the first two made an appointment and didn’t show up) wouldn’t touch the upholstery, so they called someone else. When he left, the carpet was stiff and sticky. Enough was enough! Dale found the money for the equipment, and Jerry found himself back in the carpet cleaning business!

Jerry he hadn’t planned on working that hard in Florida. He knew carpet cleaning was hard work because he’d already had a carpet cleaning business near Williamsburg, Virginia for thirty years.

He had worked on some spectacular stuff up there (like all of Colonial Williamsburg and the College of William & Mary), and he knows how to do it right. He had also gained thirty pounds and was comfortable with his Florida lifestyle. He knew if he started again running his own business would become a crusade. He did it anyway. 

Finding Jerry was a blessing for CityBizDirectory because we had the same problem with carpet cleaners that Jerry had encountered. Most we’d checked out weren't the kind of people we would let into our own homes.  Most showed up late for our appointment, if at all. Many offered specials but charged more if they used soap, and often didn’t do a good job. Virtually all of them sold price. All that could recommend them was cheap, cheap, cheap. Then one of our Business Members suggested that we call Jerry. 

Well, it is not Jerry’s goal to be the cheapest. He prefers to be one of the best, and to build his business on repeat work, not cheap. Just watch him work. Some carpet cleaners scrub. Those averse to hard work merely extract. Jerry does both – every time he cleans a carpet. First he scrubs using proprietary formulas he developed over thirty years (you have to understand carpet chemistry if you also dye carpets) and then uses a powerful truck mounted unit to rinse and extract. It’s logical: Loosen the dirt first and then suck dirt and the chemicals out.

Jerry and a single helper do all his work. The company owner always knows the importance of doing it right. And, because he did it up north, he also dyes, and tints. “Why replace a carpet when we can dye it?”

He will clean oriental carpets in your location. “Why not?” he says. “The other guys just take it home, spread it on the driveway and clean it there. There aren’t any plants down here.” Even exotic upholstery doesn’t scare him. He also specializes in cleaning and sealing tile. It's no wonder he has lost thirty pounds and two pant sizes!  

Jerry operates differently from other cleaners. First, he shows up on time, then he looks you in the eye, shakes hands and introduces himself. He tells you what he plans to do, but will offer to estimate the entire house while he’s there. He knows you will like what he does and will call him back, and estimating it while he’s already there saves you both the built in cost of a special trip. He can also do additional cleaning less expensively for both of you if he’s already there and set up. He will also call you back within 48 hours of doing your job to make sure everything is OK. No pressure, no selling. It’s all there in black and white. 

Jerry hates surprises. Except for one,  “I’m busier than I ever wanted to be.” 

Jerry is married to the vivacious Dale whose business takes her out of town most weekends, so if you want work done then it’s fine with him. Jerry and Dale belong to and enjoy several fraternal organizations, and they have a boat but don’t get to use it often because it seems like every time they are getting ready to go out, he gets another call for more work!
