MEET DAVE OF MOBILE COMPUTER GURU
Formerly Office Solutions

David was raised Cleveland
Ohio. In 1992 his parents moved to Ft Myers. He came
to help them and visit, and fell in love with this area.
It was only a matter of months between his visit and his
arrival as a new Southwest Florida transplant.
Moving was no problem for him
because of his skills as an auto mechanic. He came with
his ASE Certification and a lot of experience turning wrenches.
He also had a resume as a service manager for the likes of Tuffy
Muffler and Midas. He quickly found a job, settled in, and
knew he had made the right decision moving away from the cold
and snow.

David decided to change the name of his
business from Office Solutions to Mobile Computer Guru
because it more accurately describes what he is and does.

After 15 years of being a mechanic, he decided to look for a job that didn't
require being twisted like a pretzel all day covered in grease. He was
getting tired of making good money and giving all back to the tool man for all
the new equipment he had to buy just to keep up with the new technology by the
auto manufacturers.
He decided that his hobby of playing around with computers might just be a
good choice. Computers were becoming more mainstream, and his friends
and their friends were always having problems with their computers and asking
him to fix them. His love of computers started when he got his
first Commodore 64 (in plain English, that was a very early computer).
Because of his mindset being mechanical, he was always tearing computers apart
to see what made them work. This same curiosity drove him to figure out
software. He already had a very good basic understanding of computers,
now all he needed was someone more knowledgeable and willing to take him under
his wing and teach him to become more proficient on more models and to teach
him the ins and outs of networks..
Finally he met the person he was looking
for. It was actually a customer that brought a car for him to fix.
They started talking, and David learned that he owned a computer business
called Office Solutions, and he was looking to train someone that was willing
to learn to do things right. They struck a deal on the spot and David went to
work, learning from his mentor, by practical experience on the bench, and from
manuals he would bring home and read at night. Obviously he learned well,
because he skipped going to formal schooling and still passed his Microsoft
Certification, Comp TIA A+ Certification and the Net+ Certification.
His mentor decided to move back to Chicago,
David ended up buying the business in 2005, and has been going strong ever
since. This year he decided to change the name to Mobile Computer Guru because
it is a name he has been tagged with for some time, and better describes what
he does. David would rather come to where the computer is being used
while it is hooked to the equipment it is used with, because too many times
when someone brought him a tower, he discovered it wasn't the computer at all,
but rather a conflict with one of the peripherals, a router, or with the
Internet connection. It also saves him time and call backs, so he can
save his customers money.
Not only does he fix the normal virus
problems and conflicts, David specializes in setting up new computers by bringing
over all the old data and making everything identical to the way it was on the
old computer, setting up back ups so even if you do get hit with a virus or
lose a hard drive, you don't lose your data. He does a lot of work
setting up and working on networks, and even sets up
touch screen point of sale solutions for businesses and restaurants.
He feels his big advantage over other companies is that he does all the work, and if you have a problem in the future, he knows you and your needs and knows
what has been done to the computer or what problems you were having before,
saving time tracking down issues, saving you money. He says it is much the
same as when he was a mechanic; if you were his customer, he got to know your
car, the way you drove, what had been done previously, and what was coming up
to be done.
In his spare time, he enjoys riding ATV's, 4 wheelers, and boating, along
with, believe it or not, building new computer systems and mastering software.
